For a gut-friendly and no faff breakfast recipe, why not try this kefir overnight oats. A mild, live yoghurt drink, kefir is a great source of probiotics. Add to it the oats, fruit, nuts and seeds and you’ll have started your day with a gut-friendly thumbs-up.

Ingredients

  • 80g jumbo oats
  • 200ml kefir natural, unsweetened
  • 200ml apple juice
  • 2 tsps chia seeds
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp toasted hazelnuts halved
  • 2 tsps toasted pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tsps sunflower seeds
  • handful of berries (try pomegranate seeds, raspberries, blackberries)
  • honey to serve optional

Method

  • STEP 1

    In a medium bowl combine the oats with the kefir, apple juice and cinnamon. Cover and leave in the fridge to soak overnight, or for at least 2hrs.

  • STEP 2

    Before you eat, all you need to do is give the oats a stir, add the rest of the ingredients, drizzle with honey if you like and enjoy!

Make it dairy-free - Follow the recipe using a plant-based kefir. Try the ones made with oat, almond or coconut milk.
