This year’s Swissman Triathlon brought rain, snow, cold temps and strong headwinds down on the 220 hardy athletes who managed to finish, with Switzerland’s Rafael Wyss and Nina Brenn eventually prevailing.
Wyss, 33, managed to best last year’s winner Andreas Wolpert after overtaking him on the run, eventually finishing the course (3.8km/180km/42.2km with 5,500m elevation gain) in 12:38hrs.
In the women’s race, Nina Brenn finished first in 14:17hrs despite “wind, cold and also technically very demanding cycling conditions”, ahead of Julia Nikolopoulos and Alexandra Hagspiel. Only ten men ended the day’s work before Brenn.
The 220 Triathlon team is made up of vastly experienced athletes, sports journalists, kit reviewers and coaches. In short, what we don't know about multisport frankly isn't worth knowing! Saying that, we love expanding our sporting knowledge and increasing our expertise in this phenomenal sport.
