Sport-specific models include the Pivlock series, offering riders a frameless design for riding on the drops

Smith Optics are eyewear specialists based in Sun Valley, Idaho, in the USA. Like so many performance eyewear brands they started out in skiing, back in the 1960s, and have evolved from the slopes to now cater for a wider range of sports.

Market-wise they look set to be a legitimate competitor to Oakley, but until the UK pricing is released we don’t know where they’ll sit price-wise.

We do know, however, that they have a number of sport-specific models, including the Pivlock series, with a frameless design that looks particularly suitable for use while down on the drops.

Price: £TBC from www.saddleback.co.uk.
