Entries to Ironman UK 2013 will open for pre-registered athletes at 9am on Monday 10 September before opening to the general public on Wednesday 12 September.

Athletes can still pre-register for the event via the link on the website www.ironmanuk.com until midnight on Friday 7 September. Pre-registered athletes will then get a unique code to give them opportunity to secure their place before entries go on sale to the public. Indications are that the event will sell out in record time with over 2,000 athletes already pre-registered.

Kevin Stewart, Managing Director of Ironman UK and Ireland said, “Ironman UK 2012 saw the largest age group field in Bolton to date and great crowd support helped to create an incredible atmosphere. We're very excited about the event returning to Bolton for 2013 as we feel that the course offers a real test for the athletes.”

Ironman UK 2103 will act as a qualifying event for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. 2013 will also see the return of IronKids Bolton, which in 2012 attracted over 1,000 children aged 3 to 15 taking part in the run only event and finishing under the Ironman finish arch in Bolton’s Victoria Square.

Athletes can also combine their racing with making a significant contribution to charity through guaranteed entry slots available from Scope, the official charity of Ironman UK, with an initial £99 to pay along with a commitment to fundraise £1,000 for their great cause. Athletes interested in finding out more about racing for Scope through one of these places should contact them via events@scope.org.uk
