Skins claim their A400 series of compression wear is ‘the most technologically advanced range on the market’ – and for £80 for an undergarment you pay for that advanced technology.

But you can’t argue with the quality, and if money’s no object the A400 won’t disappoint. The seams on compression clothing can often rub due to the tight fit, but this has been addressed by the A400’s ‘A-Seams’.

They’re curved and rubbery, so glide over your skin when you slip it on, meaning there’s minimal chance of chafing. The top is designed to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter and, while we could only test the cooling properties in midsummer, it certainly did a great job of wicking away sweat on a tempo run.

One thing to consider before shelling out is sizing – we struggled to get into a medium despite having a small-to-medium frame (honestly), so you may want to buy a size up.

Verdict: Barely-there feel and surprisingly breathable, 82%
