This delicious Sour Cherry Recovery Smoothie is so easy to make. Simply bung all the ingredients in the blender and blitz.

Studies show that eating sour cherries or drinking cherry juice after exercise can help reduce muscle soreness and symptoms of muscle damage, as well as cramps, spasms and stiffness.

Combined with pineapple, which has a fairly high GI (fast-releasing carbs), nut butter, almond milk and yoghurt, you’ve got a great carb-protein combo packed with antioxidants and electrolytes.

Ingredients

  • 50g frozen pineapple chunks
  • 80g frozen sour cherries
  • 2 tsps peanut butter
  • 2 tsps chia seeds
  • 200ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp natural yoghurt
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Methods

  • Step 1

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth. Serve in a long, chilled glass with extra chia seeds and cherries on top. You will need a spoon!
