You'll need to move fast if you want to enter a 2014 European Ironman race: seven out of the 10 full-distance events have already sold out in record time, including Ironman UK.

New event Ironman Copenhagen sold out in just six hours, along with the established events in Nice (France), Kalmar (Sweden), Frankfurt (Germany) and Klagenfurt (Austria) and Lanzarote (Spain).

There are still around 200 places available at Ironman Wales, which will take place in Tenby on 14 September – to read a 2013 race report from age-grouper Sophie Radcliffe, click here.

There are also some places left for Ironman Switzerland, taking place in Zurich on July 27th, and the recently-announced Ironman Mallorca on September 27th.

On offer at each European event are qualification spots for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, where British age-grouper Catherine Faux came 10th woman overall this year.

Ironman reports that the UK had the largest number of participants racing on home and European soil this year, with over 8,000 competing in 2013.
