Britain’s four-time Kona queen Chrissie Wellington has added another charitable role to her roster – from next month she’ll become an ambassador for the pro-amateur Trois Etapes cycle series.

Organisers Cosaveli have managed to raise more than $6.5m for charity over the past three years, and their success has led them to expand the series from two to four events, adding a Classics event in Belgium and a Mallorca event to its Giro and Tour events in 2015.

The Trois Etapes series sees pro cyclists team up with amateurs to tackle multi-stage races created in the mould of European Grand Tours. Chrissie raced this year as part of a groundbreaking all-women team of athletes, raising funds for World Bicycle Relief.

“I am very excited to be joining Cosaveli as its first Trois Etapes Ambassador,” she said. “Cosaveli’s pro-am cycle series is a fantastic way to combine world class pro-am cycling and fundraising. Their success, particularly in raising over $6.5m in three years, has convinced me to get fully behind this unique organisation.”

Prior to becoming an Ironman athlete Chrissie had a lengthy career in international development. Since retiring from the sport in 2012 she’s been an active patron for a number of charities in the UK and overseas, as well as working as a motivational and public speaker, and columnist for your favourite tri mag.
