Saucony Triumph ISO run shoes review

The Triumph ISO is Saucony’s ‘pinnacle neutral trainer’ and features a host of new technologies. One of their more recent advancements is the ISO upper, which is a two-part process.

A soft and stretchable sleeve, featuring a sewn-in tongue, snuggles up to your foot like a sock, while a plastic exoskeleton clamps things into place.

It’s certainly comfy, though the heavily cushioned heel counter gives the impression you’re carrying more than the 319g weight (per shoe). That doesn’t transcend to steady-state runs, but it feels too much for intervals and fartleks.

That’s probably no fault of the heel; more the PWRGrid , which claims to be 20% more cushioned than standard midsoles. It certainly puts a spring in your step, but we’re after greater feel with the ground.

A very wide toebox compounds that lack of feeling. Hence, we’d still pitch for the Saucony Kinvara, though bulkier triathletes might appreciate the velvet landing of the Triumph.

Verdict: Will suit some, but a touch too bulky for many, 79%
