Brooks PureGrit 3 running shoes

Off-road runners feature a redesigned studded outsole, shield for protection from rocks/roots, and a toe guard

Brooks’ PureProject range has been updated for 2014, with new versions of the PureCadence and PureConnect incoming.

The PureGrit3 seen here is their off-road sibling, featuring a redesigned, more aggressive studded lug patterned outsole, aimed at tackling some hardcore off-road terrain (we’re thinking Helvellyn over Hever).

Another update is that a traditional tongue has replaced the audience-dividing ‘burrito wrap’-style tongue, which should suit a wider range of foot sizes.

Other features include a shield for protection from rocks and roots and a studded toe guard for ascending steep trails. We’ll be testing once the mud returns.
