These aren’t the most supple tyres in Panaracer’s line-up but they come with a casing that’s tough and reasonably lightweight – hit an unexpected object in the road and chances are that the sidewalls will survive intact. There’s a puncture-breaker running underneath the tread that provides superb defence against all kinds of sharp stuff – it really is almost impossible to get through. And, at 15mm wide, there’s not much chance of anything dodging around the sides either. Something could pierce these, but it’s unlikely – you certainly won’t spend much time swapping inner tubes. Don’t be put off by the lack of tread. There’s not a massive depth here so you don’t get the highest durability ever, but the slightly sticky rubber compound provides plenty of reliable grip even on the wettest, slimiest winter roads.
