The second Fambridge Yacht Haven Half Iron Triathlon took place on Sunday 29 July.

The 1.9km Zone3 swim provided a unique challenge with competitors swimming alongside the moored yachts on their way to posting some great swim splits.

The 90km cycle course has been widely praised with a number of competitors commenting on how much they enjoyed the course. The sun shined throughout and a huge crowd of people came out to support the athletes on the run course. With four laps to complete there was plenty of opportunity to cheer on the athletes and certainly appreciated the support.

It wasn't just the supporters who made the atmosphere, however, the marshals were truly amazing and each and every one of the athletes seemed to be running around with a big smile on their face.

Towards the final stages of the run the sunshine turned into thunder and lightning but this didn't dampen the spirits, adding to the sense of achievement!

Oliver Milk of Redvenom.co.uk retained his Fambridge crown in a time of 4hrs 21mins 59s with Fiona Stephenson finishing top female in 4hrs 52ins 43s.

Our next event is WatersideTri (Olympic, Middle & Long Distance) on 12 August. For more information visit: www.dengieevents.co.uk.
