A new campaign from the Ramblers aims to get Britain moving throughout 2022, with prizes on offer for anyone that takes part.

The project, which is partnered by 220 Triathlon’s publisher Immediate Media, is encouraging people to get into the outdoors and explore on foot.

As part of the campaign, Ramblers is asking for people to pledge how many miles they’ll aim to walk (or run) this year and commit to it by entering their pledge onto the official Let’s Walk Together website.

Anyone that enters their pledge will be in with a chance of winning £1,000 toward a family walking holiday. There are also monthly prizes of £100 to spend at sustainable outdoor brand Finisterre (we love the brand’s Tego swim robe and Nebulas insulated jacket.

Hiking and triathlon are natural bedfellows according to Merlin Tri Coaching’s Georgia Jackson, who explains that walking will “add extra pennies to your endurance piggybank at a relatively low impact”.

“If you add hills and challenging terrain, you’ll build leg and core strength, balance and stability,” she adds. “It’s a great opportunity to focus on good posture and alignment, too – key foundations of athletic performance.”

Of course, those new to the sport may also be taking a run/walk approach to their running training, and the Let’s Walk Together pledge may prove ideal added motivation – especially if you know a holiday and some free gear is also on the cards.

You can discover more about the campaign or enter the prize draw by heading to the Let’s Walk Together website.
