Entries to Ironman UK 2013 will open to the public at 9am tomorrow, Wednesday September 12th 2012, with confirmation that the event will return to Bolton on Sunday August 4th 2013.

With over 2,000 athletes already pre registered for 2013, indications are that the event will sell out in record time with a maximum of only 1,600 places available. Following the success of this year's race, athletes are advised to enter early to avoid disappointment. Ironman UK 2013 will once again act as a qualifying event for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Organisers World Endurance UK are delighted to confirm that the event will return to Bolton for the 5th year running. Together with the support of Bolton Council they will be looking to provide an event bigger spectacle for both athletes and spectators as well as continuing to support the future generation with its IronKids event, which attracted a sell out 1,000 children aged 3 to 15 this year.

The event comprises a 2.4 mile swim in Pennington Flash, a 112 mile cycle through the spectacular and challenging Lancashire countryside before finishing with a 26.2 mile looped marathon course in and around Bolton town centre, as the thousands of spectators cheer them all the way to the finish line in Victoria Square.

Athletes can also combine their racing with making a significant contribution to charity through guaranteed entry slots available from Scope, the official charity of Ironman UK. With an initial £99 to pay along with a commitment to fundraise £1,000 for their great cause athletes interested in or details of how to secure one of these places email events@scope.org.uk.
