Greenleaf and Miller take the BallBuster

Action from the RG Active Winter BallBuster

A bright cold morning greeted the 500+ duathletes who ascended Box Hill on Sunday 11 November for the RG Active BallBuster duathlon.

The famous course featuring the zig zag roads of Box Hill comprises an 8 mile run, 24 mile bike ride and a gruelling final 8 mile run.

With tarmac still relatively fresh from being laid in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Road Race, the duathletes were set for a fast course.

The Serpentine Running Club did not disappoint with a showdown between club-mates Andrew Greenleaf and Richard Philips for the victory. 30-year old Greenleaf was the stronger, finishing the race in 2:37:59. Philips who chose to spend his 37th birthday tackling the BallBuster, came in second in 2:41:15. In third place was Hugh Mackenzie.

In the female race, the winner was far more clear-cut from the outset with Clare Miller crossing the line as the fastest female in 3:04:07. Sarah May of Calderdale Tri Club (3:11:15) was the second female with Fay Cripps taking third placed honours in 3:12:34.
