Exercise at Extremes

Conference to be held in London in January 2010

Just spoken to Dr Mick Nielsen, President of the Sports and Exercise Medicine Section at The Royal Society of Medicine. He filled us in a conference in January. Over to Dr Mick…

We’re holding a meeting entitled ‘Exercise at Extremes’, being organised on Tuesday 12 January 2010 by the Sports and Exercise Medicine Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.

We have three speakers: Mike Grocott who led the Caudwell Xtreme Everest Expedition a few years ago; Emma Farrell, one of the country’s leading freedivers; and Mike Stroud who partnered Ranulph Fiennes on several of his polar treks and also on their “7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days”.

It promises to be an excellent meeting and may be of interest to readers of 220 Triathlon. The meeting is not just for doctors and is open to anyone with an interest in sport and exercise.

For further details, readers should go to www.rsm.ac.uk/sports, which also provides details of our meeting in March on “The Psychology of Sport and Exercise”.
