The 2012 edition of the Abu Dhabi Triathlon will feature course changes to accommodate the record-breaking 2,100 athletes taking part.

The swim has been relocated to the Abu Dhabi public beach, in order to create a more spectator-friendly event and the start line, finish line, T1 and T2 will all be located near each other.

The bike course will start from Corniche in the East Plaza, with athletes riding up Saadiyat Island and around the Yas Marina Circuit, home to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The 2012 race will be held on 3 March, and the organisers are targeting 2,100 competitors this year, up from 1,500 in 2011.

There are three course distances on offer: 223km long course (3km swim/200km bike/20km run), the half-length short course (1.5km swim/100km bike/10km run) and a sprint course (750m swim/50km bike/5km run). The short course and sprint distances can also be run as a team relay.
