With exactly one month to go until Challenge Bahrain, the organisers have confirmed their second middle distance triathlon for the region will take place in Dubai next February.

The race will be based in the Jumeirah Beach area and start with a dip in the Arabian Gulf, followed by a bike through the city to the sand dunes of the Nazwa Desert.

It finishes with a run along the white sandy coastline, past the Marina towards The Palms before doubling back and finishing in the green oasis of the Jumeirah Beach Park.

Taking place on 27 February 2015 (same day that the 220 Triathlon Show opens), it does however leave less than four months for athletes to prepare, get their travel and accommodation booked and all other necessaries.

There’s no mention yet of whether the prize fund will equal the weighty $500k that Challenge Bahrain offers, which has drawn 80 pros including Kona winners Sebastian Kienle and Mirinda Carfrae, and top ITU women including Britain's Jodie Stimpson.

Entries to Challenge Dubai will open a week from today (Thursday 13 November, 2014) when full course details will also be revealed on www.challenge-dubai.com.
