Britain's Bella Bayliss came second in the Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon last weekend, covering the half-Iron distance course in 5:05:45.

She was beaten to gold by Maja Stage (DEN), who crossed the line in 5:00:45. Nicole Woysch (GER) came third in 5:17:08.

Bayliss, who racked up 16 Ironman-distance victories over the course of her career, retired from long-distance racing earlier this year after winning Challenge Henley.

In the men's race, Marino Vanhoenacker (BEL) took first place with 4:22:35, followed by Peru Alfaro (ESP) and Johann Ackermann (GER).
