Did you miss out on a spot for this year's Ironman Wales? Good news – the organisers will be putting 100 more up for sale next week, now their plans to relocate the Athlete Village for 2014 have been approved.

The new entries will go on general sale at 9am next Wednesday (30 April) at www.ironmanwales.com, with the successful applicants joining 2,000 athletes who have already signed up for the sold-out race on 14 September, which starts on Tenby's North beach with a 3.8km swim, followed by a 180km bike and a 42.2km run.

The organisers have confirmed that while the transition and post-race athlete recovery areas will remain in the Rectory Car Park for 2014, the registration and expo areas will move to the nearby Five Arches Car Park, now that the local authorities have approved the changes.

This latest amend follows news that Ironman UK will have a significantly revised bike route for 2014, with the organisers including an extended two-lap bike course and a change of venue for the bike-to-run transition (T2), letting them add 400 more race spots.

Last year's Ironman Wales was won by British athletes Lucy Gossage and Scott Neyedli, with TV chef Gordon Ramsay among the celebrities taking part (finishing the course in just over 14hrs).
