Mavic Gennaio women's bike jacket

Sitting somewhere between a jersey and a jacket, this female-specific cycling jacket is made from a lightweight and stretchy softshell fabric and is designed to be suitable for winter riding down to about freezing.

Available in hot pink or black, its style is sleek, sporty and definitely road-orientated. When in use, the soft-backed fabric offers next-to-skin comfort, or works as part of a layering system for really cold conditions.

Warmth levels are good – and the fabric does have a water-repellent finish – but personally we’d add a base layer for near-freezing temperatures.

The Gennaio boasts sufficient vents and mesh areas to maintain a comfortable core temperature when working hard, while a good selection of pockets make it especially appropriate for long rides. An offset front zip is a nice touch, keeping the zip away from the chin to avoid chafing.
