The Athlete’s Guide to Recovery by Sage Rountree

Sage Rountree is a yoga instructor who works with a range of athletes, from Ironmen to Olympians, everyday cyclists to team sport athletes. The book is split into three major sections.

The ‘Measuring Recovery’ chapter briefly covers training and recovery theory before describing ways of knowing how recovered you are. These include mathematical models for those whose brains like to compute, and checklists of physiological and psychological factors for those who prefer alternative approaches to recovery.

The ‘Recovery Techniques’ section covers everything from active recovery to compression and nutrition, while the Recovery Protocols chapter describes what to do in your days and weeks after your biggest races.

Written with a balanced approach and an easy- to-read style, each section also contains plenty of astute suggestions for further reading.
