Neo headlamp – review

The Neo head torch is one of the lightest we’ve ever tested, coming in at 54g (or 87g with three AAA batteries) to come in just above our go-to lamp, the Petzl Tikka Plus 2.

This slenderness translates to the road, with a barely-there feel provided by the 15mm wide strap and rear-mounted battery pack (which includes a flashing red light).

Out on the Bristol streets the 90-lumen light gave a wide-angled beam at full brightness – the other modes are flashing and dim – that was certainly good for being seen (one man covered his face when we ran past, although that could’ve been down to our run gait).

While the scope was impressive, the lack of a ratchet to adjust the angle of the headlamp (seen on the likes of the Petzl) meant that we couldn’t focus the beam exactly where we wanted, making this a torch for urban streets only, and not for venturing off-road.
