AceCo K-Edge Chain Catcher

AceCo specialises in precision engineering and has produced this K-Edge Chain Catcher – recently seen on Bradley Wiggins’ Felt – with the dual aim of keeping your chain in place and protecting your frame from damage caused by a derailed chain.

It works only with braze-on style front derailleur, is just 10 grammes and, tucked down near the chainset, it won’t ruin your aerodynamics. But, with a standard road bike set-up and properly tuned gears, it really is redundant and remains an extra £30 that could be spent on a bike maintenance book with enough change to take someone out for a drink (sorry, getting carried away now).

We all know that British roads can be bumpy, but unless you’re planning on riding over Paris-Roubaix style cobbles or running a non-standard chainset, setting your gears up correctly should do the job and save you money.
