Former professional open-water swimmer Lucy Charles-Barclay is one of the fastest long-distance female triathletes on the planet. The GB elite has finished runner-up at the Ironman world championship in Kona, Hawaii, on four consecutive occasions (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 – no races in 2020 and 2021), won Challenge Roth in 2019, the 2021 Ironman 70.3 world championship and the 2022 World Triathlon long distance championship. She has also raced in short-course triathlon, finishing fifth at the 2021 Leeds World Triathlon Championship Series race.
