Sunski Ferrata Glasses: puts others in the shade

The Sunski Farrata Glasses are an unusual set of sports sunnies with a unique feature. Those magnetic side shields are removable but allow you to block the glare of harsh light coming from the side. Likewise the small suede patch which wraps around the bridge is also removable but works to block glare. They are certainly cool, but can they match some of the best running sunglasses for performance?

I tested these during a couple of very hot sunny weeks at the start of May and also wore them during a trip to Mallorca when I was doing a fair bit of cycling. In the harsh midday sun they were welcome and allowed me to focus on the road ahead – though I would remove those side shades in lower light and in situations where peripheral vision was more important.

A note too – those shades have to be pressed quite hard to remove them and they come out with quite a pop which did make me worry about breaking them, but they seemed fine in testing!

Amber, bronze and storm lenses are also available, but here are the mirrored silver version which did a good job of protecting my eyes. A hard leather case is included as well as a soft cloth.
