Petzl Tikka Plus 2

The Tikka Plus 2 is perfect for winter on-road running and won’t break the bank. The beam is adequate for unlit lanes and won’t dazzle other road-users or your running mates.

If you’re not planning on leaving the tarmac this winter, the Tikka has two massive plus-points beyond its price. Firstly, three AAA batteries give you 55 hours of burn time at full power and 140 hours on the economy beam (which would be adequate for safety use on lit roads). Secondly, the entire unit weighs in at only 83g – you barely notice you’re wearing it.

It also has a handy indicator that shows you when you’re at 50% of battery charge. And, if you ignore its warnings, a super-long-lasting and low-drain red flashing mode will get you home at a push.
