Abus S-Force

From the Germans at Abus you’d expect a very good quality, functional product… and the S-Force delivers just that. This lid is extremely lightweight, has 24 vents to maximise cooling and is available in plain white, which makes sense for summer riding.

The medium size tested was one of the most comfortable helmets we’ve ever worn. The cradle on the back adjusts in seconds to prevent any unwanted movement, and the straps were less fiddly than most to set up. As with almost all modern helmets, the internal padding can be removed for washing when the sweaty smells become overpowering.

As a design piece it’s not as stylish as top-of-the-line Giro and Specialized offerings, and it’s not aerodynamic like a teardrop shape, but when you see the price (£49.99), this can be forgiven. The S-Force offers great looks, safety and fantastic comfort for what really is an absolute bargain price.
