Yorkshire training school

Follow in the footsteps of the Brownlees…

Following the success of Yorkshire’s first training school for triathletes on January 5-6, two more weekend schools have been arranged that, organisers hope will help turn Yorkshire into the UK’s premier venue for triathlon training.

Organisers Freebird Events from York, who run triathlons across Yorkshire and Humberside, are running two more weekend schools – again at St Peter’s School, York – on February 23-24 and one after that for the weekend of March 23-24.

The first weekend school for triathletes was held at St Peter’s School, York, on January 5-6. There were sessions each day in the school’s 25m swimming pool, including underwater filming so that swim strokes and times could be analysed and improved. There were also classes on nutrition, sports psychology, bike set-up and maintenance including roadside emergency repairs, and how to achieve faster transition times – the point where competitors transfer between one activity and another.

They’re aimed at all levels of competitor, from triathlon newcomers to veterans, to help them, prepare for the 20123 triathlon season, which kicks off in Yorkshire with the Skipton Triathlon on Sunday 14th April 2013.
