New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde put on a masterclass at the Spain T100 in Oropesa del Mar over the weekend, stamping his authority on the T100 World Tour with a domineering performance. While Lucy Charles-Barclay reigned supreme in the searing Spanish heat to top an all-British women’s podium.

Strong from the opening 2km swim complete with Aussie exit, Wilde quickly established himself in the lead group on the 80km bike and then crushed the run, leaving rivals trailing in his wake.

Wilde’s relentless pace meant no one could stay with him, and by the closing laps he was racing against the clock rather than the competition. Chasing Wilde in an echo of the previous T100 French Riviera race was Belgium’s Jelle Geens who delivered a strong closing run to secure second place, while Germany’s Jonas Schomburg held his nerve to finish third, marking one of his best results on the T100 tour.

The emphatic victory not only gave him maximum points but also propelled him to the top of the T100 2025 series standings ahead of Geens as we head into the Qatar finale.

The women’s race was equally decisive, with Lucy Charles-Barclay showing her trademark swim-bike dominance before pulling clear on the run.

Joined early on by GB compatriots Kate Waugh and Jess Learmonth, the trio controlled the front of the race. Later, Learmonth’s drafting penalty left her chasing and the heat was not kind to her in the run but she still managed to secure third, ensuring an all-British podium.

Waugh stayed close for much of the run but couldn’t hold off Charles-Barclay, who became the first female to collect multiple T100 wins this season.

Meanwhile, winner of previous T100 race Ashleigh Gentle clocked the fastest run split (01:03:32) to climb into fourth, while Germany’s Caroline Pohle rounded out the top five.

With Wilde seizing the men’s series lead and Charles-Barclay underlining her form ahead of Kona, Spain T100 delivered one of the most pivotal weekends of the T100 season.

Both races showcased decisive, career-shaping performances and tightened the race for the overall championship ahead of the Grand Final in Qatar.
