Wadenhoe Quadmire Race 2 report

Race report from the organisers of Wadenhoe's Quadmire

Competitors were treated to near ideal conditions for this second race in the 4 race series. Dryish course and weather meant fast times all round.

In the run/bike/run, Steve Giles, having the benefit of knowing the course well soon developed a good lead. Matt Wootton gradually began to claw back some time on the bike section but it wasn’t enough as Steve moved away again on the final run. Steve finished in a time of 58:42mins with Matt coming in second two minutes later. Roz Giles was first lady home in 1:08:49hrs.

In the run/kayak/bike/run, with the ‘favourite’ Mat Stephenson injured and competing only as part of a team, promising multisporter Tom Stead, aged just 15, dominated from start to finish.

Tom’s time of 1:19:36hrs was an improvement of 45 seconds on his first race. Second home was Alasdair Bruce in 1:25:41hrs. First lady was Octavia Chambers in 1:44:41hrs.

Race 3 is on 15 January – come an have a go!
