Completing a triathlon appears on many New Year’s resolution lists in England. Triathlon England want to hear from you if you have been inspired to do the ultimate event in 2013. It couldn’t be easier to tell us why you are planning to complete a triathlon, just visit www.facebook.com/triathlon.england and follow the instructions.

The 10 best stories on why you have been inspired to complete a triathlon in 2013 on our Facebook page will each receive a free membership to Triathlon England.

Over the past 12 months, interest in the sport has increased dramatically and more women in particular are getting involved and ‘giving it a tri’ for themselves. In 2012, over 700 triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons took place in England, seeing over 125,000 people competing, many of them for the first time. Triathlon England aims to enable many more opportunities in 2013 and beyond to enable everyone to achieve their personal triathlon challenge.

The standard distance of a triathlon, is a 1,500m swim, 40km bike and finished off with a 10km run. The swim section can be held in a pool or open-water, the bike on roads or trails (for cross triathlon) and the run on roads or trails. However, there are many shorter and longer distance events, so there’s a triathlon event for everyone.

Make your New Year’s resolution in 2013 to complete a triathlon. Tell us why you’re inspired on the Triathlon England Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/triathlon.england for the chance to win a free Triathlon England membership.

About

220 deputy editor Liz Barrett started work on the magazine in 2007 as staff writer. Since then, she’s reported live from almost every major triathlon across the globe, including the Ironman World Championships, 70.3 Worlds, six ITU Worlds, Challenge Roth, the 2014 and 2022 Commonwealths, the London and Paris Olympics and the Rio Paralympics, to name but a few. Name a pro and chances are she’ll have interviewed them, so, unsurprisingly, she’s our go-to pro-athlete expert on the team. When not covering races, you’ll find her whipping words into finely-crafted shape for both the magazine and website.
