The BRAT Birmingham Triathlon

New events set for Britain's second city

Birmingham Running Athletics and Triathlon Club (BRAT Club), the 2010 BTF National Club of the year, are to host the inaugural Birmingham Triathlon on 29 May 2011.

This race will be held under two distances; Sprint and Super Sprint. A second event will be held on 4 September 2011 and will see competitors race at either Standard/Olympic or Sprint distances.

For all too long the country’s second City has not had a prestigious headline triathlon event to call its own. London has both Hyde Park and the London Triathlon, Liverpool has its own headline event, whilst Manchester had Salford, to name just a few. Now Birmingham can join their ranks and enjoy its own showcase event… the BRAT Birmingham Triathlon.

The race is situated at the West Midlands Water Ski Centre, a few miles north of Birmingham city centre. This dedicated water sports resort nestles alongside the Middleton Lakes RSPB Wild Life Reserve and the River Tame. Offering one of the highest water quality ratings of any open-water swim venue.

The Bike Leg promises to be flat and fast, taking in much of the scenic North Warwickshire cycle route within the course. And finally the run will be around the water’s edge and along ‘Pikes Ridge’ to the finish line.

There is ample camping space with full facilities available. The whole day will be a friendly affair for competitors of all standards.
