SRM Live to be used at Kona

Follow real-time updates on athletes’ performances in the 2011 Ironman World Championships on the SRM website

SRM are set to use SRMlive for this year’s Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. SRMlive is a real-time feed of the speed, power, heart rate, cadence and GPS position of selected athletes during the bike portion of the race.

Using the website, you’ll be able to check the stats of Michael Weiss, Faris Al-Sultan, Dirk Bockel, Cameron Brown, TJ Tollakson, Matty Reed, Catriona Morrison, Rachel Joyce, Amanda Stevens, Caitlin Snow and Samantha Warriner. This is in addition to Scott Rigsby, the first double amputee to compete in Ironman Hawaii and Asker Jeukendrup, researcher and sports nutritionist.

SRM founder Ulrich Schoberer expressed his excitement about the project, saying thta that “having the ability to show their [the athletes’] capacity on the bike live will offer viewers a rare opportunity to get an insight into tactics and performance.”

If you want to see SRMlive in action, go to www.SRM.de during the race which starts at 16:30 GMT on Saturday October 8.
