Outlaw set for July

Get your marathon shoes on and head to Nottingham

The date of the 2011 Outlaw Triathlon has been confirmed as Sunday 24 July. Athletes will return to Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, next year, following the first-ever Outlaw long distance Triathlon on 8 August this year – subject to final sign off from the local authorities.

The open-water swimming events will also take place at Holme Pierrepont on Saturday 23 July.

Organiser Iain Hamilton said: “We’re pleased to confirm 24 July as the date of the Outlaw. We are working in close consultation with county authorities and aiming to launch the event next month subject to signing off all of the required permissions.

“We will make some adjustments to the bike course for next year but our intention is that the Outlaw offers a course that is scenic, fast and accessible to a broad community of long distance and potential new long distance athletes.

“The start and finish will remain at Holme Pierrepont, with the swim and run courses unchanged from this year.”

The Outlaw Triathlon features a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile UK Athletics measured marathon. In its first year, 2010, the event attracted 750 starters and it was won by Paul Hawkins and Joanna Swallow. For more information about the Outlaw see http://www.theoutlawtriathlon.com.
