New tri club for Trowbridge and West Wiltshire

New tri club for athletes Wiltshire way

A new triathlon club, Hot Chilli Tri Club Trowbridge, has been formed for the aspiring and existing triathletes of Trowbridge and West Wiltshire. The formation of the club was partially inspired by Trowbridge resident Bob Smith.

At the start of 2009, Bob could barely swim one length of a pool, was somewhat overweight and had some health concerns. By the summer of that year, at the tender age of 64, he participated in the Wiltshire Times Trowbridge Triathlon as part of a relay team.

Since then his enthusiasm has known no bounds, he has become a competent swimmer, has lost weight and got fit. In 2010 he participated in numerous aquathlons, road races and his first complete triathlon (on a mountain bike) in the Wiltshire Times Trowbridge Triathlon.

Bob is an inspiration to all and has taken the role of Club Chair to help create similar opportunities for others to experience what triathlon offers as a sport and healthy lifestyle pursuit. In 2011 he hopes to take on the challenge of a full standard distance triathlon

Hot Chilli Triathlon Club Trowbridge is committed to being recognized as the community club of choice for multisport athletes of all ages and abilities in West Wiltshire enabling individuals to achieve their athletic goals in a stimulating, supportive and sociable environment. The aims and objectives of the club are closely aligned with those of Triathlon England “To promote excellence in our sport, and create opportunities for everyone to achieve their personal triathlon challenges”.

The club has both formally coached and informal group sessions in all three disciplines with the emphasis on enjoyment, supporting health and fitness development, learning the new skills of the sport and sharing the camaraderie of group training and social events.

If you would like to get fit in an inclusive environment and fun way, develop new abilities in the sport or just want to come along and find out a bit more about the club please contact: Graeme Morrison (Club Secretary: gmorrisonhotchilli@hotmail.co.uk, Carla Sullivan (Membership Coordinator: Carla.su83@yahoo.co.uk), visit Facebook – Hot Chilli Tri Trowbridge or visit the website www.hotchillitri.co.uk (coming soon).
