Abbey hosts 2K, 10K and duathlon

On a truly glorious autumn day at Delapre Abbey in Northampton last weekend, competitors in the junior 2K, senior 10K and duathlon races managed to enjoy their fair share of mud and thankfully not too much mayhem.

This was the first full running of the event, and there was a very high standard of racing in all of the events, with some impressive times recorded.

The first race of the day was led from start to finish by junior entrant Adam Searle, who completed the 2k course in 7:44mins, a time that most of the adult runners watching would have been proud of.

After a minute’s silence the duathlon race got underway, which thanks to some very impressive running was won by Rob Parry in 1:49:15. First lady in was Claire Shea-Simmonds in 2:04:56.

The 10k start followed 10 minutes after the duathlon and was won by Michael Salisbury, who posted the only sub-40mins run of the day to cross the line in 39:36mins. Jemma Burke was first lady past the post with 55:32mins.
