London Hyde Park race is full

London leg of ITU World Champs is sold out for age-groupers

The last entry for this year’s Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship, London, presented by Tata Steel, has left the shelf today making the event a sell-out just eight weeks after the online process began.

4,500 amateur triathletes will now get the chance, over the weekend of August 6 and 7 at Hyde Park, to race in the same place as the world’s top stars and savour the atmosphere on the 2012 Olympic triathlon venue.

This year’s entries sold out in record time with the Buckingham Palace route filling up just 72 hours after entries officially opened.

“In only our third year of operation with this event, the response has been somewhat overwhelming. We’ve been bombarded with requests for further entries”, said Robert Puestow, the Event Director from Upsolut Sports UK.

“People can sign up for the waiting list on www.triathlon-wcs-london.org and if we can release more entries we will let them know”, he added.

The event’s sponsors still have some places available and some of them will put them on offer via a series of competitions and offers. Anyone who has missed out should watch the triathlon press and sponsor websites for further details in the coming weeks.
