Seven-time Tour de France champion confirms he will be racing long-course triathlon

Lance Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France winner has confirmed via his official Twitter feed that he will be racing Ironman Triathlon this year.

Unfortunately, a crash ended his chances at Xterra, even though he was going well at the time, and now he seems determined to have a go at an even tougher challenge: Ironman.

Armstrong tweeted: “After 20 yrs of getting the question I’m happy to say YES I will be racing in a @ironmantri in 2012”

He hasn’t said which race he’ll be aiming for yet, so keep your eyes open for further details…
