GB Paratriathlon team ready for Pontevedra

Jane Egan and Iain Dawson amongst team to travel to Spain for Euros this weekend

The GE Great Britain Paratriathlon Team of eleven paratriathletes travel to Spain this weekend as they look to bring home gold from the 2011 Pontevedra ETU Paratriathlon European Championships on Saturday 25 June 2011.

The GE Great Britain Paratriathlon Team includes four reigning champions including Charlotte Ellis, Iain Dawson, Faye McClelland and Jane Egan, all of whom will be looking to retain their titles in northern Spain.

The four reigning champions, all form part of the British Triathlon funded world class paratriathlon performance programmes podium squad. Fellow squad members 2009 world champion Clare Cunningham, 2010 European bronze medallist Sara Butler, 2009 European silver medallist James Goddard and 2010 European silver medallist Steven Judge will also be on the start lane line in Pontevedra.

Elizabeth McTernan, Tom Perkins and Paul Thomas, all members of the affiliate squad will join the eight podium athletes.

The event comes at a time when the profile of the sport is higher than ever following the successful inclusion into the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The sport has already started to ensure the structures are in place to support the athletes, hosting a number of camps this year focussing on race preparation.
