Colwyn Bay gets Eirias

The new Watersports Hub in Colwyn Bay plays host to a middle-distance tri in July

The Eirias, old Welsh for blazing hot, is the newest middle-distance race to hit the UK triathlon scene.

Organised by the people behind the 220 Award-winning Llandudno Sea Triathlon, the course for the Saturday 21 July race features a 1.9km sea swim based at the brand new Watersports Hub in Colwyn Bay, with its new beach and fantastic spectating facilities, and a two-lap 106km bike route around the stunning Welsh countryside on wide spacious roads.

The 21km run is a flat out-and-back route along a coastal path before returning to the Parc Eirias stadium for a finish on the running track in front of the 2,000-seat grandstand.
