Looking for your next holiday destination in 2022? Look no further. Challenge Family has this week announced that a new race location will be joining their ranks, this time in the historic Mediterranean archipelago of Malta.

Challenge Family is known for its stunning race locations, with other venues including some of the world’s most sought-after beauty spots. That's everything from the USA to Brazil, Australia, Vietnam, Russia, Europe, Scandinavia and many more.

“Malta is famous for its amazing climate and breathtaking landscapes, as well as its rich and varied culture – what better destination for athletes looking to combine a remarkable race experience with a trip to remember,” said Challenge Family CEO, Jort Vlam.

The race is the second all-new event being added to the company's 2022 calendar after they also announced the launch of an event in Chile.

When is Challenge Malta taking place?

The inaugural Challenge Malta will take place on 15 May 2022 and provide an ideal early season racing opportunity for those after a bit of vitamin D. Athletes can fly directly to Malta International Airport, situated near the capital city of Valetta.

What's the course like?

The race will start on the north-west coast, with athletes diving in the sea at Golden Bay for a 1.9km swim. The bay is blue flag protected and, as the name suggests, boasts some of the region’s most beautiful sandy shoreline.

The following 90km bike will consist of a three-lap route from the west to the eastern side of the island, travelling through rural countryside and the Salina Coast Road.

Back in Golden Bay, athletes will set off on the final 21.1km point-to-point run eastwards along undulating terrain to a grand promenade finish line in the resort town of Sliema.

How do I enter?

Entries are open now and start at €185, for more information on Challenge Malta, head to the Challenge Family website.
