Leonie Periault wins WTCS Hamburg women’s race, shaving 30 seconds off her 2025 time

French triathlete Leonie Periault followed up her lightning-fast 2025 WTCS Hamburg win by shaving a full 30 seconds off that time, while GB’s Beth Potter maintains her lead at the top of the standings.

What happened in the swim?

Bianca Sergni led the swim and exited the water first, followed by Fanni Szalai of Hungary making her debut in the WTCS. Sian was first Brit out the water in eighth and Beth in 15th.

What happened on the bike?

Seregni led onto the bike, with Szalai and Lisa Tertsch of Germany chasing her down. Rainsley and Potter were ninth and 10th respectively. By the end of lap three, the front riders had come together in a large group, with Rainsley and Potter safely within it. Potter moved up to second, while Rainsley sat 10th on the fifth lap.

What happened in the run?

Out of transition two, Potter was in a great position in second with Rainsley in 12th. Potter surged to the front in the first lap and, as with the men’s race, a strong front group formed in lap one.

Tertsch and Periault of France pulled ahead towards the end of lap one, chased by a group that included Potter. Rainsley had dropped to 20th. Periault took the tape at the finish, followed by Lisa Tertsch, with Tilda Mansson of Sweden completing the podium. Potter finished sixth, while Rainsley worked her way back up the pack on the second lap to finish 15th. Potter’s result was enough to maintain her lead at the top of the overall World Series standings.
