Brownlee Challenge: “I am very nervous to be taking on Jonny!”
Q&A with James McCormack, picked earlier today by Alistair Brownlee as one of his teammates for the Brownlee Challenge
We speak to the second of Alistair Brownlee’s teammates for tomorrow’s Brownlee Challenge – James McCormack.
Congrats on being selected for Team Al! Are you nervous about taking on Jonny?
I am very nervous to be taking on Jonny! Everyone involved in triathlon at any level knows how much of a legend he is!
Can you tell us a little about your triathlon background?
2013 has been my first triathlon season and it has been a great year for me.
I joined Richmond Tri Kudu, which is my local triathlon team in North Yorkshire. The group has incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic members. It has been a fantastic experience for me.
The Tri Kudu Triathlon shop has also played a big part in my first season, with a special mention to Debbie for all her advice and support.
If I am not training or working I’m generally hanging out with their awesome staff!!
I have been taken on by coach Paul Taylor, who recently competed in the world Ironman 70.3 Championships in Las Vegas.
Our next target is to ensure I qualify for Team GB as an age grouper.
Why do you think Alistair chose you to be part of his team?
If I am honest I don’t know, I just can’t believe I have been offered the chance to be in a team with him!
Have you discussed tactics with him yet?
That you will find out on race day!!
