British Triathlon celebrates age-group success at annual awards

Sophie Whitworth and Colin Dixon took top honours in age-group categories at BTF Awards

In an evening aimed at celebrating the achievements of our sport, our age group athletes have achieved their personal triathlon challenges both in domestic and international competition.



Sophie Whitworth and Colin Dixon took top honours named British Triathlon Female and Male Age Group Athletes of the Year.



Sophie Whitworth who competed in the 40-44 age-grouphas achieved a golden year winning both the ETU Triathlon European Championships in Athlone and in Budapest at the ITU Triathlon World Championships.

Colin Dixon, who also competed in the 40-44 age-group replicated Sophie’s success, winninggold at the ITU Age Group Triathlon World Championships, where the GE Great Britain Age Group Team won 56 medals.

Domestically, it has also been a successful year for age group athletes, with Danielle Stewart and Daniel McCarthy winning the British Duathlon Ranking Series.

It was a year of double celebration for Danielle Stewart, who also won the British Triathlon Ranking Series, with Thomas Sturdy winning the men’s Series.
