Adidas Supernova Sequence

This competes with the ProGrid Guide for the title of ‘most versatile training shoe we’ve tested to date’.

The ForMotion system used in tandem with adiPRENE cushioning means that you get a mix of cushioning and stabilising when your foot hits the ground; the heel partially decoupling to reduce impact and shearing forces.

It feels stable and controls over-pronation comfortably, and the cushioning’s good in the forefoot, where you’ll get enough flexibility for a good toe-off.

The shoe offers responsiveness and a strong level of protection to suit runners in a range of weights. The only downside is the lack of tread – it’s not for slippery surfaces. The neutral version of this shoe is the Supernova Cushion 7.
