The Assos Dyora R bib shorts S11 reflect the design of this Swiss racing range with streamlined, minimalised, precise styling.
On unboxing, from possibly the most beautiful packaging ever received, I was skeptical – the bib shorts looked tiny and were extremely lightweight. I was however pleasantly surprised and with every wear loved these shorts more.
Assos Dyora R bib shorts S11 design and features

The warp knit fabric feels premium, is silky soft to touch and when on, feels like a second skin. With raw edges at the leg openings and around the majority of the waist, these shorts have hardly any seams.
In fact, they are so lightweight you can hardly feel you have them on, even with the compression qualities around the key leg muscles.
At first, the waist felt like it sat rather low but this actually assisted with comfort when riding on the drops as there was no excess fabric causing chafing or heat build up when adopting a more aggressive riding position.
Four minimalist anti-slip grippers hold the legs in place and did their job well during testing — no unwanted movement even with lots of position changes from seated to standing on the turbo trainer.
In addition, the straps are wide elastic with a premium feel fabric used on the front. The fixed cross over at the rear avoids unnecessary twisting of straps when putting them on and prevents any slipping when up off the saddle climbing on steep hills with the inevitable body rock.
Assos have built in odour control and SPF 50 making these shorts fabulous for summer rides.
Assos Dyora R bib shorts S11 comfort

The breathability of the fabric kept me cool when training and there were no noticeable sweat patches even on the light colour.
Although I did experience some moisture build up around the creases at the top of the legs, this did evaporate quickly once off the bike avoiding any embarrassment.
In keeping with the minimalist design, the seat foam pad is cut from one piece of thermoformed foam with a 3D, three layer waffle cover which provided plush cushioning whilst minimising weight.
It’s held in place by just a few carefully placed lines of zig-zag stitching to allow for better movement to create a body contouring fit. It works but does creating a slightly unconventional look from the front.
The lightweight fabric coupled with the lighter pad enabled a fast turn around in the laundry and they washed and dried super quick. And the clever placing of the washing instructions on the exterior of the strap crossover point means no annoying labels.
The Dyora S11 shorts are available in three colours — secret blue (here), edge green and black series with women’s sizing ranging from XS to XXL. I found the fit true to size guide.
