Britain’s Georgia Taylor-Brown wins women's junior gold at the Euros

Britain’s Georgia Taylor-Brown won women’s junior gold at the ETU Triathlon European Championships in Eilat, Israel, on Friday. The 18 year old from Manchester led from the start to ensure that the GE Great Britain Triathlon Team had a golden start to the championships.

Brown, who was competing in her first European championships, raced alongside Britain’s Sophie Coldwell, Maddy Winzer and Sky Draper, with all four athletes exiting the water in the top eight following the 750m sea swim.

Brown and Coldwell were the strongest on to the run, with Brown striking early for home in the intense heat.

At 18 years old, Taylor-Brown, who trains with Sale Harriers and the City of Manchester Swimming Club, still has another year as a junior, and Sophie Coldwell, who finished an excellent fourth, is only just 17.

Maddy Winzer finished 11th. Sky Draper finished lower down the field.

The GE GB Age Group Team won 11 Gold, 10 Silver and 10 Bronze medals in the standard distance race earlier.
