Stockholm Replaces Lausanne on the ITU World Series Calendar

Stockholm will now host the mixed relay world champs as well as the sixth round of the ITU World Series

Stockholm has replaced Lausanne on the ITU World Series Circuit after the Swiss city had to withdraw from the series due to insufficient funding.

The event will still take place on 25-26 August but will now be hosted in the Swedish capital. A total prize purse of $170,000 USD will be on offer across the two races. It’ll be the first time since 1997 that Stockholm has hosted and ITU race, and is seen as a great boost for the profile of triathlon in the Nordic region.

The revised schdule for the 2012 ITU World Triathlon Series is:

April 14 – Sydney, Australia

May 11-12 – San Diego, California

May 26-27 – Madrid, Spain

June 23-24 – Kitzbuelhel, Austria

July 21-22 – Hamburg, Germany

August 25-26 – Stockholm, Sweden

September 30 – Yokohama, Japan

October 20-22 – (Grand Final) Auckland, New Zealand
