Race report: Challenge Vichy 2014

A second victory for Croatia’s Andrej Vistica in the men’s race, and a first for Gabriella Zelinka in the women’s

Always a popular race in the European calendar, the fourth edition of Challenge Vichy took place in France last Sunday with around 2,000 athletes taking part.

The men’s race saw the defending champion Andrej Vistica (CRO) take a second victory over the long course race finishing in 8:18:50 – over two minutes ahead of Germany's Jens Kaiser. Jose Jeuland (FRA) caught up with compatriot Christophe Bastie in the last kilometres of the run and was third to cross the line.

In the women’s race meanwhile, Hungary’s Gabriella Zelinka overtook 2012 winner Martina Dogana on the run to cross the line with a phenomenal gap of six minutes. Eva Potuckova rounded off the podium with third place, 13:30mins behind Zelinka.
